Who We Are
Sindicatum Carbon Technology (SCT) specializes in environmental technology commercialization. Working as a clean technology “bridge,” we seek out and connect new and emerging technologies with commercial deployment opportunities in the global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions abatement market. We work closely with our parent Sindicatum Carbon Capital (SCC), leveraging their global market presence and expertise in climate change, emissions markets, carbon monetization and project development.
How We Work
Our objective is to identify least cost options for greenhouse gas abatement, with rapid roll out potential and broad global applicability under the clean development mechanism (CDM)/joint implementation (JI) of the Kyoto Protocol. Our business process involves four key stages: (1) sourcing; (2) performance validation; (3) business development planning, and; (4) deployment.
SCT researches countries and industries to understand current technology requirements in the field and to identify and anticipate future technology requirements and trends throughout global markets. With this information and knowledge in hand, we actively seek out new technologies through our global network of venture capital and private equity firms, hedge funds, research and development organizations, technology incubators and innovation groups.
Once potential technologies have been identified, we engage in a rigorous financial, engineering and technical due diligence process, assessing a technology’s potential to generate cost effective reductions in GHGs. If we like what we see, we seek a project structure that will align interests, which may include a combination of licensing, investment and partnerships.
During this process, from sourcing to deployment, SCT works closely with SCC to identify and plan projects in which new technologies can be deployed and also to develop or adapt clean develop CDM/JI methodologies appropriate to the technology.
Our Value to Potential Partners
By providing technology companies with rapid access to key growth markets under CDM, plus access to new forms of revenue through carbon credits, SCT can accelerate and facilitate the realization of revenue and value. In addition, through working with SCC, we are able to provide access to extensive experience in project development, project financing and project execution.
As well as working directly with technology owners and developers, SCT is also prepared to work alongside financial partners – venture capital firms, private equity firms, investment banks and hedge funds - whose strategic interests align with our own. Through our active involvement in technology development and commercialization, our efforts can serve to enhance internal rates of return on technology investments within an investment portfolio and expand the universe of plausible exit options and opportunities.

SCT’s focus is on new and emerging technology opportunities in the low carbon, GHG emissions abatement and reduction, alternative energy and other environmental sectors. Specifically, SCT is actively engaged in seeking out best of breed in new and emerging technologies in the following areas:
• Energy efficiency (including demand side management for energy intensive industries);
• Near-zero emissions coal mine methane;

• Low emissions waste water treatment

• Biomass, including co-firing

• Electricity systems (combined heat/power, distributed generation, network efficiency)
Our Global Team
SCT has a small team of finance, engineering and project development professionals based in London, USA, China, Indonesia and India, who are responsible for business development and execution. SCT also works closely with and draws from the global presence and expertise of SCC.
